I’m finally getting around to sharing my razor comparison first impressions. All of these razors I purchased myself and this is a 100% honest unbiased review. I gathered up four different razors that I’ve been hearing lots of things about to compare to each other. There is one other razor brand I want to try but that was going to make this post be even later. With that being said, below is my first impression on the Billie razor, the Joy razor, the Flamingo razor and my tried and true one I’ve used for years, the Venus razor.
These are my first impressions so I have only used them once minus the Venus razor which I’ve used and loved for years. I also do not shave with shaving cream so these are my results just using the razor itself. I used all four on my legs and coarser armpit hair to see how they handled both. I will be continuing to try them out for a month and see how well they hold up in that amount of time.
The Flamingo razor is Target’s addition to the affordable razor game. I put all the information about it in the graphic above.
I’m starting out with my least favorite first. This one unlike the other three doesn’t have a gel strip. When you’re not using a shaving cream it doesn’t make for the most comfortable shave. I think because of this it just didn’t glide like the other three did. When used on my coarser armpit hairs it had more trouble cutting through them. One last thing the shower holder it comes with I cannot, for the life of me, get to suction to our shower. I would not recommend this one unless you like fun colors.

The cult classic razor that I think literally everyone has heard of at this point.
In all honesty I wanted to hate this one just because everyone loves it. I know I’m weird but I don’t like to follow the crowd on everything. With that being said I was extremely impressed. It glided over my legs smoothly, didn’t have any trouble with coarser hair, and left my legs feeling extremely soft. Just based on first impressions this one is currently in my top two. We’ll see how it holds up over time. The one con for this one is if you don’t like subscription services it is the only one of the four that you can’t buy separately.

This one is Walmart’s affordable razor choice. Unlike Target’s option they do actually offer a subscription service with it.
This one is probably currently my third favorite. It only has a gel strip at the top and because of that I don’t think it glides as smoothly as the ones in my top two spots. It didn’t do quite as well as the Billie and Venus razors as far as the coarser hair goes but not as bad a the Flamingo razor. Other than that it did get all the hairs and left my legs feeling smooth. Another one I’ll have to see how it holds up with time. It currently only has two color choices so half as much as the Flamingo and Billie razors. They do offer a third color if you buy individually without the subscription. I didn’t order the kit with this one so I don’t know how the shower holder performs.
I was actually surprised they do offer a subscription service for this one. I’d been using it for years and never knew. A couple things to note about this one. The actual starting kit is cheaper than any of the other three and offers a travel size shaving gel. But the blades after that are double the cost of the other three.
This one is the other razor in the running for my top two. Since I’ve used this one for years I’m obviously a little more partial and know how it holds up over time. It tied the Billie razor in every way except not cutting through coarser hairs quite as well. I’m really interested to see how they hold up against each other over the next month. Again since I didn’t buy the kit I don’t know how the shower holder performs.
There’s my first impression for you guys. I hope it was helpful for you and I will be letting you know as time goes on my favorite of the four. The other razor I’d like to try is from the Athena Club maybe I’ll add that to my month review as well.
